![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Notes on buying PC's, parts.
![]() For a first time buyer without any real computer interest, I, would suggest going to
Best Buy , or similar, and getting a package deal.
Minimum suggested requirements for a desktop:
500 mhz or better cpu ,( AMD K6 2 or PII ), at least
64 mb of ram ,( PC100 memory, with at least 100 mhz front side bus)
6 gb harddrive ,(capable of DMA transfer)
AGP video slot, with premium video card
USB ports
Biggest monitor you can afford
Color printer and a scanner ,(one will be bundled , buy the other).
Maybe half of my inventory came from eBay. Casually checking on items of interest
every once in awhile, can bring home the good or better deal.
Some items are from garage sales. What others believe to be broken can sometimes,
easily be fixed. In addition just letting people know of your strange aberration can
get some parts, also !
In my case, computers have been a lifetime interest, from the TRS-80, that my father bought me,
to the very last computer I bought. I hope now to turn my interest in them into a new career.
Without a doubt , the enjoyment I have gotten thru my hobby, has a very cheap price tag !
